New Year - OK, I'll give you that one, especially with me being a Scot.
Martin Luther King's Birthday - Parties maybe, but not drinking to excess. More of a day out really.
Washington's Birthday - nope.
Memorial Day - Getting razzed just for the sake of it would, in many Americans' minds be disrespectful to those who are being honored.
Independence Day - Well yes, I have to give you that one too.
Labor Day - Generally the last day to enjoy summer so another day out.
Columbus Day - For those who mark it, it is a serious matter but does involve food and a nice day out.
Veterans' Day - See Memorial Day
Thanksgiving - Yes but also a time for being with family. Its my favorite holiday
Christmas - Just like Thanksgiving
So you can see that Americans don't do so badly with their holidays!
