The Committee on Safety of Medicines is concerned that mixing the two increases the risk of haemorrhage.

Cranberry juice contains chemicals called flavonoids, which are known to inhibit the action of substances which the body uses to break down warfarin.

By October 2004 The Committee on Safety of Medicines had received 12 reports of suspected interactions involving warfarin and cranberry juice. Although no link is proven, it is recommended that all patients taking warfarin avoid cranberry juice.

Many foods, drugs, and herbal supplements can interfere with the effects of warfarin. Some products interfere with the metabolism of warfarin, the way the body clears warfarin. Other products/foods contain vitamin K. Vitamin K is what warfarin works against to prevent clots. There has been some recent controversy over the effects of cranberry juice on warfarin.

It is recommended that you refrain from drinking cranberry juice while taking Warfarin because they don't interact well together.

I loved CranBerry juice until I discovered tha (Grrrrrrrr annoying or what), I haven't a clue but have recently found out that St Johns Wort also effects it

on that food programme on channel 5 in the week it informed people who take the drug not to take cranberry juice as that alone thins your blood, so I presume taking the both would not be a good idea. Your GP should be able to give you the relevant information

because extracts in the cranberry juice also act as a blood thinning agent.

warfarin is a blood thinning drug ,also cranberry juice also thins blood, if you cut yourself you could bleed to death
