MY DOG WAS KICKED BY A HORSE IN THE SHOULDER/LEG AREA. RIGHT FRONT. I HAVE HAD HER ON RIMADYL (25MG) FOR 2 MONTHS. SHE SEEMED TO HAVE GOTTEN BETTER, THEN I LET SHE GO THIS WEEKEND AND THE LIMPING RETURNED.
AM NOW DOING COLD COMPRESSIONS IN THE EVENINGS.
HAVE DONE XRAYS, NOTHING SHOWING UP.
SHE IN ONLY 16 MONTHS! HATE TO HAVE HER HAVE THIS LONG TERM.
ANY THOUGHTS? OR IS THE NEXT STEP "CORTICOSTEROIDS" EVEN IF WE ARE REALLY NOT SURE WHERE ON "LEG/SHOULDER" IT IS.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE, JFC

First of all, she should have been taken to the vet as soon as this happened. At this point, any number of things could have gone wrong. She could have even developed something like arthritis. At the same time, her bones may not have grown as strong or something. Just take her to a vet, and let them do tests.

I would suggest a second opinion and take xrays or xray report with you but I don't think that two months is too long for recovery from this kind of injury. I have been kicked by a horse and have taken longer to recover. This could also be a bone bruise etc. Have you considered acupuncture treatments? We use them on our dogs and have great success after traumatic injury of this type.

If this were my dog she'd be going to a holistic vet tomorrow!

I've taken in 2 of my greyhounds who were in quite a bit of pain caused by calcium deposits which resulted in their backs and necks being out. The vet x-rayed them, and one dog had acupuncture treatments plus a couple of chiropractic treatments. The other one is currently going for chiropractic treatments. The results in both dogs are absolutely amazing!

I don't know what's wrong with your poor dog, but I can't tell you how impressed I am with the results from these treatments - it's worth a try!

She could have steped on something. Bring her to the vet. An injery like being kicked really could need surgery and she could have dislocated it again!!

I recommend redoing x-rays and also seeking the advice of an orthopedic vet.
