i'm just very insecure about him doing things like that. it's not that i don't trust him, it's just the fact of knowing he's drinking.

What kind of drinking?
If he is an alcoholic, then yes you should be concerned. If he likes drinking with the guys, then leave him alone. You do not have control over every aspect of his life. How would you feel if your boyfriend forbid you to do something? What would you do?
If you feel that insecure about your relationship, maybe you shouldn't be with him.

You can tell him anything you like, but if he's of legal drinking age it's his choice to stop or not. You aren't his parent or keeper, so he doesn't have to mind you just as you don't have to mind him.
Instead of telling him to do anything, why not explain to him that it bothers you and why. Communication is the key...not trying to order your partner to do what you want because of your own personal hangups.

some guys drink not, and they can REALLY make you stamach ache...you know? then some guys who drink could be great if they can control themselves from being winos...that's an entirely different ball game.
it's usually better to trust your partner, but don't watch his drinking habit degenerate into alcoholism. that one could be rough for both of you.

Yes, you don't own him, its a free country he can drink and smoke and shoot heroin into his eye if he wants. If you don't like it, then find a new boyfriend.

If he is abusive, or cannot hold a job because of it, then you are right, but if alcolhol is not a problem, then it is fine for him to have a couple.

if you don't like the fact that's he's drinking, tell him. I mean, if you don't, he'll never know, right? there's no motivation for him to stop.
i know it sounds cheesy, but if he loves you, then he'll listen. :)

you can ask him not to- but he might have alcohol problems... if he is drinking a lot, or HAS to drink, he is an alcoholic
