Hi, Are there any good free downloads software that will speed up my laptop that has slowed down regardless of doing all the right stuff to make it speed up like cc cleaner, disk defrag etc. Will it run along side my spybot, zone alarm, AVG?
Thankyou in advance

Try running AWC personal Free Edition software
These are functions it claims to offer
• Removing Spyware and Adware
• Preventing Security Threats
• Privacy Protection
• Fixing Registry Errors
• Temporary Files Cleanup
• Startup Cleanup
• Repairing Windows
• Speeding up System
single click operation gets things done easily. Great free software for daily routine cleaning before closing down the pc, or at the end of browsing session

When you say" Will it run along side my spy bot, zone alarm, AVG?" are you saying you have all these programs installed and running on your PC? If so then maybe Zone Alarm and AVG are conflicting in some way, while the PC is just sitting there at your desktop, press ctrl>alt>Del together and look at the performance tab and see what the CPU usage history is telling you, and under the totals section have a look at how many processes are running, that might be using up resources, if you have more than 30 processes running then I try and get it below 30, which means looking at msconfig type msconfig in the run box, then see what you can stop running when in the start up section. see if disabling some start up items speeds things up a little. Good Luck.

Depends which machine you have. Check out the manufacturer online support, like if you have an IBM/Lenovo you can improve the system performance with their free online downloads:
Display memory information and find out how to purchase and install more memory
Remove applications from the Startup folder to increase the system performance
Diagnose and fix intermittent lockups and hangs
Maintaining optimum performance of your system
Monitor memory usage
I don't work for Lenovo :-)
The microsoft.com website also provides safe and efficient downloads to update your operating system (if ur running windows)
To answer the last part of your question, you may have to deactivate your firewall and antivirus during the downloads, or checks, don't forget to reactivate them after.
All the best.

Have you tried cutting down the software that loads on Startup? You can use Ccleaner to do that, its at Tools - Startup. Leave Windows and your security software and stop stuff like your office suite, it'll still be available from the Start menu when you want it.

You would think that a brand new 2000 plus dollar machine would be problem free.Talk to the store that sold you the computer they're the experts.Somebody has you thinking that you did something wrong. These types of problems are industry problems!
