Im a healthy 5'8 108lbs 17 years old female
I exercise every day for 30-45 mins and eat around 1800/1900 calories. Im not bragging but every1 tends to say that i should be a model ( even some random lady at the grocery store lol ) I dont look anorexic, you cant see all my bones. Im pretty much a normal teen i suppose.. i just happen to eat healthy and allow myself one "junk food" a day since i think its bad to deprive yourself from that.
So whats the deal with people thinking its wrong to be underweight?
and yes i do know i should weigh around 125+.

Because being underweight can be just as unhealthy as being overweight. Instead of taking in too many calories, you are not taking enough in for your body's nutrient and energy needs. You are a young woman, and right now is when your body needs calcium to develop strong bones. Calcium is an important mineral and when you don't provide enough through your diet (along with other vitamins and minerals) it will leach the calcium from your bones. Try to gain at least 10 pounds, and maintain that weight by consuming enough calories, and take one day off from exercise.

Because it isn't healthy to be underweight. Whether you like it or not, you're not eating enough. What do you do during those 30-45 minutes of exercise? Do you run, lift weights, swim? Is it intense or moderate? You very well could be burning over 500 calories each day, which equates to approximately 1300 - 1400 calories. The more you exercise, the more you need to eat, otherwise you're putting your immune system in danger. How do you expect your body to repair itself without the proper nutrients? And what are you eating every day? Is each meal equivalent in structure, or do you just eat whatever?

One of the great risks of being underweight is that if you get sick and perhaps can't eat, you will not have the reserves the normal weight person has, and you may not have the strength to get well again. Medical research has shown that in elderly people a little extra weight might be desirable to help them when they get ill. I'm not saying you should become overweight, but at your present weight, an illness might be more dangerous for you than the average person

Because over-all, that is NOT healthy. It can cause issues with your hormones and chemicals and affect lots of things in your life. It isn't always evident ... it can take years or it can be a very underlying problem.
Exercising every day for 30-45min is a bit excessive ... that's not normal. Especially if you're not doing it for some sort of athletics. I'm glad you feel healthy and you eat right ... and I hope it stays that way for a very long time.

I think people think being underweight is bad because the scientists say a certain weight is what everyone should weigh but its just some people don't know when to stop losing weight and they become anorexic and have eating disorders you don't starve yourself so i don't think you need to worry =)

I think you have a really good point. Today it seems that peoples perception of "normal" weight is kind of skewed compared to twenty or thirty years ago when 125 pounds would have seemed almost overweight. It really just has to do with the average increasing weight of the society as a whole, I think anyway.

It's not healthy to be under weight any more than it is to be over weight! It sounds as though you have quite a healthy regime and because you weigh less than the "experts" say means nothing, as long as your healthy and feel good about yourself it's only your opinion that counts.

I don't understand your question. You say everyone says you look like a model, so why are you asking about people saying people are underweight?
