You can dream about anything at all. I dream about people I don't know often but, dreams are mostly drawn from your own thoughts, experiences, wishes, etc. so it is likely you will dream about people, places and things that are familiar or mean a lot to you.
Dreams are largely meaningless. They are mostly random so I wouldn't worry too much about the content of your dreams.

Your dreams consist of People you know because we only have our life experiences to draw from. If you haven't lived it how can you dream about it?
