Don't listen to the other people saying don't get it put Xp back on. don't because at the moment Microsoft are bringing a new update out for all vista types its coming out soon but Microsoft don't no when they are going to bring it yet as more problems with vista are still coming out the best thing is to download ie7 from Microsoft website because they have the in bugged one because the one on vista is having problems with vista so download the latest version off there site and it will be ok Microsoft so far have been sent 11 million error logs from people that use vista and they have to Re-view every single one to fix all the bugs in vista if you need any more information contact me at alanmoore799@btinternet.com

No doubt you have read or heard about Vista having lots of trouble taking off . It's still having teething troubles is my guess. If it's any comfort, I think they are even more eager than you are to sort out the problems. They mostly will, eventually.

You've got the answer to your problem in your last sentence. Reinstall XP if you can. Vista is full of bugs at the minute and not worth installing.

new technology is always bugged, u should always buy new stuff a little later because then all the problems in the new software are usually sorted out, see if you can get any patches for it.
