i have 2 12" 1200watt subs, and jus bought a 2 channel 2400watt amp. and im new at this car audio thing, and well ive usef a smaller amp before, never one this big. i was wondering what is the best way to hook up the amp main power supply. should i run it stright to my main battery for my car like i did with my smaller one, or will it drain the car battery too much? or should i get a seperate battery to hook up the amp to it. also if i get the seperate battery, wont it go dead after a few weeks? how should i do this?
please help

with all that investment get a pro to install it. If you wire something wrong you could blow an amp etc When in doubt use a pro then you know its done right.

You will need to run the power cable straight from the battery and you will also need a 2.5- 3 farad capacitor and possibly a new heavy duty alternator and a battery. If you were to get a new battery and not charge it with the alternator It would go dead in a few hours not weeks. Even if the other battery was hooked up to the alternator it wouldn't make any more electricity becuase the alternator would still be the weak point in the system. If the amp is less than 1500 rms then you should be able to get by with a 0 guage power and ground and your stock battery and alternator, don't forget your power capacitor. After that you start sucking power away from other things. (These are estimates based on a midsized car, if you have a compact you might get 1000, or with an suv or a truck you would get alot more (I really don't know)) Good luck, wear earplugs.

Congrats on your new system. You can run it a couple ways. First, you can run it to the battery like you did the smaller one. However, you will have to upgrade the altenator, and add a capacitor. You can also install a battery in the trunk, be sure to get a crash case for it. The "crash case" is like a battery roll cage. In case of a rear end collision. You really dont want somethin like that not protected that close to your fuel tank. With the battery in the trunk you can use til it dies then charge it with a jump box, or a D/C charger. You could buy a second battery and switch them out when you notice the system is gettin weak. That way one is always on charge, and ready to go. That can cause you to lose several fuses, connecting and re-connecting. I heard that you can run the second battery off the first, but it consists of seriously upgrading the altenator, or adding a second altenator. Personally, what I've done in the past was running the power to the main battery, and upping my altenator, added a capacitor and I was good to go. depending on what you drive, you might want to look for a stronger battery as well. They have batteries that have higher amps, in the same relative size.

your cars battery will be fine. If you notice that your headlights dim when bass plays, you might consider adding a capacitor. They sell for around $100. Just install using the supplied directions. And pay attention to where they say never grab both sides of the capacitor.
Best of Luck!

It does depend on the quality of the battery - and with your monster amp that is very important. Also the best cabling kit is required - some can be expensive - but its well worth the money. You will get better sound from better cables.

so a procedures as i know, whoever "hits" has the criminal duty or is "at fault". In different words, coverage agencies and regulation enforcements perspective is, "if you're following each of the regulations of the line and protection, there isn't in any respect any reason to hit some thing." Now, if there replaced into ice on the line, that could atleast make issues lean more beneficial on your want, yet i imagine you ought to have a photograph taken that day of the stretch of street you slid on. that's why they're retaining you should always have atleast a disposable digicam on your automobile to take a photograph of an coincidence and coincidence scene on the day of the coincidence, alongside with a cellular telephone, your coverage options, motive force's license and registration. with any success you've automobile coverage which will pay even even if it is your fault, or if no longer, a lot of acquaintances and relatives that could actually help you in this time of disaster. there's a lot of alternative elements to think about: replaced into both of the drivers using at the same time as impaired, or in a hurry, did both leave the scene of the coincidence earlier regulation enforecement arrived, what style of autos were in contact, did both have automobile coverage-dl license-registration-and so on... So with any success, possibly there is different elements that are on your want right here. In both case, that's a caution call to always stress appropriately and defensively and save as a lot area between you and different transferring autos or products as plausible, have a seat belt on, and do not have any distractions like listening to the radio, eating, eating, speaking on a cellular telephone, and so on... i know all this because i have been using for years now, and performance in undemanding words been in some injuries. In each coincidence except one, someone hit me and for some reason none of them even had a motive force's license!!!! in the coincidence the position I hit someone, I rear ended someone, basically like you probably did. So considering that I "hit", it replaced into my fault, even inspite of the actuality that the motorcar in the front of me stopped short and actually quick, no longer giving me any time to quit. the in undemanding words issue that kept me replaced into that the motorcar I hit left the scene of the coincidence, and, from what I understand, it replaced into some style of coverage scam on the portion of the different motive force.
