It affects canned and food sold in foil pouches only, no kibble is affected

this provide info and list of foods

If your dog has been eating an affected food I highly recommend making a vet appointment to have bloodwork done to check the bloodvalues relating to liver and kidney function, if their is a problem file a complaint with menufoods as their maybe a compensation award, if you don't and a problem is noted months later, it wouild difficult to prove then that the food was the cause.

Phones lines are very busy now with scared people so it is hard to get thru, it is a very massive food recall that they were not prepared for but keep trying

Call or visit a pet store right away. The websites give some info at menufoods.com. It affects mant cans and pouches of dog and cat foods alike. THe 800 number does not get past a busy signal. Many brands are affected out there. It appears a wheat gluten is bad. Some dogs have already died in this crisis. It causes kidney failure that leads to their demise.

It affects only wet and semi-moist foods, not dry foods. Here is a press release from Iams which also covers Eukanuba. But all of the affected foods are wet or semi-moist small portion foods.

So far, the kidney failure has only affected cats. There are no reported deaths in dogs. But the dog food is being recalled as well.
