not sure what you can afford, but you can go small from cooking her diner and feeding and entertaining the other kids so she can have some time to herself, to treating her to a manicure and pedicure (about $30-40), to giving her a gift certificate from her favorite store. whatever you do, as long as it is like you put some thought into it and made it special for her, she'll be happy. does she need something she's neglected to buy herself? a new umbrella, a new tote bag?
you can get some great deals on ebay if your budget is tight
good luck to you; she's lucky to have such a caring daughter

If she is just 41 I assume that some (or all) kids are still at home. (?) How about just a card and list the things you will do for her around the house...One day you clean, next you fix dinner, next you do laundry etc. you get the idea. She would probably love that more than something bought at a store. And here is wishing her a Happy Birthday!!!

My mom is like that too. She loves the Beatles but doesn't have any albums, so I got her one for $10 on Amazon.com.

If you have a little more money, you might consider getting her a pretty necklace. And can your siblings chip in?

If that doesn't work, think about what she likes and get her something to support that habit. If she likes to ski, get her a new ski hat. If she likes scrapbooking, buy her some supplies.

A day at the spa, massage, facial, hair, nails, and lunch. Between the 5 kids, it would be about $50-75 a piece. She deserves a day to herself.
