I'm pretty sure that this relates to one of Dr. Fraud's theories. If someone likes someone else, and they don't know how to express it, they act negatively toward it, like, a boy being mean to a girl he likes. However, you need to learn the difference between this theory, and actual abusive behavior. Like, if the guy is actually trying to hurt you, he is not trying to flirt, he's being a bully.

Far too much testosterone flying around and they are too young to know how to control it. In their testosterone-fuelled frustration they end up hitting girls instead of just leaving it at the flirting.
Tell them hitting isn't going to get them the attention they want... tell them to let you know when they've grown out of the dumb schoolboy phase and can keep their hands to themselves.
