What is it that you would suggest then since you reject the obvious answer of changing the station of just turning it off?
I don't listen to them because of making such a simple choice. Evidently that is too difficult I guess?
The only other suggestion - write to their sponsors - which of course means that your going to have to listen to them to find out who they are......
I still think that what I do is easier and totally effective.

Bob Lonsberry is an embarrassment to Rochester, NY.
First off he doesn't even live in the city or county, yet sticks his nose in the affairs of Rochester and Monroe County.
He is an alcoholic. He was excommunicated from the Mormon Church. He's been married 3 times and divorced twice. He cheated on his first wife. He is a major pervert. His 2nd wife was a 22 yr old virgin who he left after being married for a week, he just wanted to deflower her. Keeps his 3rd wife like a 2nd class citizen becasue she is an immigrant. What he spouts on the radio is so different than what he practices.
He is also a known racist. He called the mayor of Rochester a monkey and ape. He is a gun nut.
I wish "terrorists" would kill people like him, Dr. Laura (who had an affair with an older married man and posed for naked pics), Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck. Conservative Radio and TV hosts are causing more harm to the USA than any Muslim Terrorist poses right now

Homeward ... Well, the way I see it, you do have some choices, but I'm the first to admit that the choices may not be very effective:
1 - Sue them, if you have the resources and feel confident you'll win.
2 - Persuade ALL their listeners to tune them out; that will get their programs canceled, eventually.
3 - Change our government to a North Korean- or Cuban-style dictatorship; people such as you've mentioned would be jailed or executed.
4 - Move somewhere that doesn't carry their broadcasts.
5 - Get used to the fact that life sometimes stinks and you can't make everyone think as you do.
6 - And lastly, adjust your way of thinking. Among the names you mentioned, I've heard the broadcast of "Dr. Laura" only. Her tone is much too harsh and she OFTEN sharply criticizes the very people asking for her help simply because their past efforts to solve their problem have been ineffective, but there is some merit to her points. I applaud her advice, but her on-air manners are awful.

Money, sonny: that's why they're on the air; their public vomiting attracts enough listeners and viewers that it dumps money into the pockets of network executives and their corporate masters. So despite your dismay, the only workable solution is indeed to stop listening/viewing and change the station/channel...and you might write network headquarters and get your family and friends to do it too, and tell those jerks how you feel about these on-air puking contests!

Freedom of speech... I know it's less than pleasant for those who wish to silence those with speech that causes harm and suffering, but it's a sad reality. The only thing you can do is make efforts to change the minds of others through education, patience, wisdom and altruism.

No, but they can be fired.
It's called freedom of speech, you can't get them off the air. They have the right to be there, and you have the right to not pay them any attention. Why not support a cause you believe in, instead of dwelling on those you disagree with?

Start you own radio station and talk bad about them.
Buy a call center in india and flood the radio station phone lines with bogus phone calls.
Besides that its freedom of speech...

Maybe in a country where there is no free speach, this however, is America baby the only way to silence people is not to listen to them.

Not, only elected officials can be impeached. Boycotts are often useful to leverage broadcasters to remove talent from the airwaves, if freedom of speech scares you so much.
