this isn't the place to be doing research for your project. You may get some sites here to look at but you must do the research. here your only get people options not facts. there are many sites that can give you the information you need and it will be more accurate then what you get here.

Do you mean the city of Bangkok's local government - which is Democrat (democratically elected) or the government of Thailand (the country)? Please clarify.

[Added 3 days later: Ok you clarified so I guess I should help you:-

You can get information about the present nature of the government of Thailand from the links under the 'Recent Annoucements' section in the link below. This is a link to a Thailand Government Ministry website and therefore information from it counts as a primary source. Quoting from a primary source for research is worth much more than quoting from secondary scources - examples of which there are many in the answers below.

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2453.php

This is a link to the CV of the Governor of Bangkok, Apirak Kosayodhin (again from a primary source - the Bangkok Metropolitan Adminitration's website):-

http://www.bma.go.th/bmaeng/his_governorbkk.htm

If you go to the "About Bangkok" tag in the horizontal menu in the page below you get information, population etc. about Bangkok:-

OK I think I helped you enough.]

This link answers your question: http://www.tourismthailand.org/about/aboutthailand.aspx

Also if you want further more info about thailand, try checking into the Thai Embassy website like the one in New York. They got very good info. Here's the link: http://www.thaiconsulnewyork.com/english/index.php

Look at the left column of the page about Thailand Information. It should be relevant to your project. Good Luck!

Thailand has a British-style cabinet form of government. It is a Kingdom led by a constitutional monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Remember what ever you find in any research book, map, internet site, etc, that currently the country of Thailand is ruled by a military junta.

Lonely Planets at www.lonelyplanets.com do give a summary of Thailand. Wikipedia at www.wikipedia.org.also does the same and does get updated quite fast. Have a look, most of your questions are answered in there.
