Nagore (sometimes spelled Nagoor) is a town in the Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located approximately 4 km north of the city of Nagapattinam.

Nagore has a population of approximately 30,000. A prominent five-acre dargah (Muslim shrine) dedicated to the 16th century saint Nagore Andavar (literally "the Lord (aandavar) of Nagore"; also popularly called Meeran Sahib or Qadir Wali) is located there, and serves as a pilgrim center. The 14-day Kandhuri Urs (also spelled Kandoori or Kandhoori) festival, dedicated to the saint, is held there annually.

Although dedicated to a Muslim saint, the dargha's rituals and architecture are influenced by Hinduism, and the area is characterized by largely peaceful coexistence between its Muslim and Hindu populations. In the immediate aftermath of the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the dargah sheltered and fed thousands of Hindu tsunami survivors, and buried the bodies of more than 300 Hindus killed in the tsunami in its graveyard.

Your question helped me to conclude not to sell my house in India & make a trust & make a school so that my children( sorry I don't have & I will never have any)but my neices & nephews will have a place to know from where their ancestors came? I feel by selling that house i am uprooting myself.
I have seen this pain in all indian origin people. Even if their ancestors left 5 generation ago. That is why I am thinking to leave a nice foot print behind.
Indian origin children have this quest to find out their origin. In North America I met many who wanted to know something about their native place.
One of the Canadian opposit party leader's daughter whose ancestors came 5 generation ago told me " They were neither educated to keep contact nor had money to visit so they lost their roots.
I hope lots of people read this & do not gain few thousend dollars by selling their house in India but leave a million dollars footprint behind
