I am a Traditional Catholic and I believe that you can take Sundays off from fasting and abstaining b/c God made Sunday the day of rest from everything.

Yes. Sundays are not considered to be part of Lent in those Christian groups that observe Lent. I believe this is because Sunday is already considered to be a Day of Obligation and not counted as part of the 40 days. (Check the calendar-- it's more than 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Good Friday)

technically yes as sundays are a day of celebrrating the goodness of the Lords ressurection. if you coulnt the days of lent, the sundays are not included in the 40. however.... in my family we stick to the old school ways - lent is lent no matter how many days. besides, if you indulge on the sundays - you really aren't sacrificing anything.

No, that is just a lazy Reformist thing that recently started. I think that Athiests/Protestants/Hebrews and Muslims are behind this rumour. There is no respite from Lent except on St.Patricks if it falls on a Friday.
Typical Americans, can't finish anything they start. Either you do the 40 days & nights or don't attempt it at all.

No. Whatever you have sacrificed for lent, you have sacrificed for the entire season, and not just when you feel like. But then, when I was growing up, more often than not, the kids would sacrifice chocolate, and oh boy did those bunny ears taste good when the day finally came!

Sort of. Sunday is always the day we mark the Resurrection and therefore is always a day of celebration. However, every Sunday during Lent every thing we hear in Church will be about our Lenten journey. Peace be with you
