My 5 year old dog is still chewing anything plastic...especially the swing parts...I've got him in a dog run (60ft x 40 ft) during the day with my other 2 dogs. I want to at least save my swing because I'm tired of buying new parts. They have chew toys like a Kong, balls, and a couple other things. At night I let them out. I've also tried Bitter Apple on the swing as well as a chilli powder paste that I saw on one of the suggested answers, but they just don't seem to have an effect on him. I really don't want to leave them in the dog run 24x7. Please help!!!!!!!

Just think of all the money you're saving by not having to buy chew toys! Start banking that approximate amount you're saving to put towards a teeth cleaning at the vet every few years! Just feed kibble (dry food) and that should take care of it. I don't think that chew toys necessarily keep tarter from building up anyway. Dry food and no "junk food" should be enough.

try buying them (forgive me i don't know the name) one of those dog toys that are used for cleaning there teeth. it's very hard and is shaped to look like a bone...it's a dental chew, it will take him a long time to chew it up and my dogs love it. it's the only thing they chew on.

There is a spray that I think is called yuck and you spray it on the swing the gose to chew it and dose not like the tast so he stops. Also try putting penut butter in the kong that should keep him preocupied.

hey throw a dog a bone once in while , he mite like to chew but my guess he bored out of his head

if you really need a good soultion i would take him to the vet his teeth mite be sore and he needs them checked , or it could be a bad habit that he picked up.
have you seen the rolling ball with treats in it? get them at petco about $10 put treats in there, and he has it roll it around to get one out , keep him busy for hours

First off, he's probably chewing because you gave him chew toys and encouraged him to chew them as a puppy. Get rid of all the chew toys. Correct him if you see him doing it. He thinks he's supposed to.
