Well I'm a Lumbee Indian in NC and I'm looking for scholarship information. But I'm not just looking for american indian scholarships but also any for students pursuing a medical career and if you could find any for both that would be AWESOME! There's just one problem, my tribe isn't federally recognized yet, so try to avoid those. I have a high G.P.A., an excellent attndance report and I will accept ANY scholarship information not matter the amount available. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!!
(I'm only a sophmore but I recognized the importance of scholarships so I'm getting started now :))

General Scholarship Sites:
http://www.fastweb.com
http://www.finaid.com/scholarships
http://www.scholarships.com

Google:
Go to google and type in -
scholarships + native american
scholarships + american indian
scholarships + minority
scholarships + people of color
scholarships + students of color
scholarships + women
scholarships + medical degree
scholarships + science major
scholarships + health major
scholarships + academic
(you will get a ton of information)
note: you might get better results with the students of color searches, most native scholarships require one to be enrolled in their tribe and since yours isn't federally recognized you unfortunately wouldn't qualify

Also please note that the specific schools you are applying to will have their own scholarships.

Just make sure you talk with your tribe. I am Citizen Potawatomi and recieve scholarships (there are grade and credit requirements just like any scholarship, some people think just because you are Indian you get it all paid for, but it is not true).

Also, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has grants. And look on the website of the college you are planning to attend. Also, if your college has a Native American Studies department, then they would be more than happy to help you with on campus Indian scholarships.

www.fafsa.ed.gov = Official site for the Department of Education Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

also check at your school at the career center and/or with a guidance counselor
