Usually birth - VERY small puppies may be hard to see brindling and people could mistake them as not brindles but by the time they can leave mom if they are going to be brindle they are already.

Dude I raise Pitbulls and one of the strains I have are Heinzls and they all have their brindle markings since birth. whoever told you the brindle markings don't so up right away are incorrect. There are many different strains(bloodlines) of Pitbulls, not all of them have brindle markings. If you dog is 6 mo. old the color he is now is the color he will always be.
If you take your dog out into the direct sunlight, you might see a glimmer of brindle through his coat, because he is of a brindle cross. It doesn't matter to the dog so it shouldn't matter to you.

By 1 year at the latest, usually. That's when the dog will have fully lost it's puppy coat and gained it's adult coat. If it has very dark or very slight brindling it might not start to show for 2-3 years. But a full-body or bright brindle should show up by 1 year if it's going to at all.

Unfortunately there is not a definite age when brindle or spot markings start to show. I have a full bred pit bull. Her brindle markings are very dark and was born with them. If the markings (brindle or spots) are light, you can’t pinpoint an age when they will appear. I also have a lab/pit mix. When I adopted him at four months, he was white with black and tan markings on his ears. As he aged more black and tan markings/spots appeared on his body. He is almost four years old and these markings continue to become more prominent and more appear. So it’s just one of those “nature will take its course” occurrence. Best of Luck with your new companion! Pit Bull’s that are raised properly are VERY LOVING AND LOYAL!! They are also VERY headstrong, so you will need to devote a lot of time in training...BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT!!!

At birth. Brindling tends to get less heavy as they grow and the markings spread out.

My Boston Terrier is almost 2 and his color is still changing. When he was a little puppy he looked almost all black and white, but over time has changed to have brindle.
