Okay, my friends computer cant start up. She has Xp home edition. She said everytime she tried to start it up, it comes to a black screen saying one of her files are corrupted and she doesnt have her xp home edition cd anymore. So she got a Xp pro and tried to install it over her home ed. She deleted all the partitions and created a new one with. It looked like it was going to work but after the computer restarts and loads back up, on the loading screen it says xp professional. But after that when loading up the rest of the installation it says she has a perimeter error. Is there anything that we can do to get a fresh clean install of windows xp pro? Also I think she has viruses on her computer, she never had any antivirus programs before but she also bought one now.

Well It ended up being that it was the cd that wasnt working. Not the hard drive. We were stuck on the second part of the installation. So we got a different cd. Thanks anyways.

sounds like her hard drive is broke she'll have to buy a new then install windows on it, http://www.tigerdirect.com and http://www.newegg.com usually have decent ones at a good price. before she's buys a new one you can go to http://dban.sourceforge.net/ and download that it completely erases everything on the hard drive, it can be complicated so make sure you read the instructions on the readme text under where you download it, my husband works on computers we use this all the time, after you download it you have to burn it to a cd to use it (remember you lose all data including drivers so you may have to go and redownload them) Good luck and i hope this fixes your problem.

As yet another person replied, it is a failure to submit. this can nicely be because of failed CPU, RAM, or motherboard. also an unseated PCI card might want to attempt this besides. Did some thing ensue basically earlier this problem? Any potential surges? Black outs? Do you've a backup of your information? Your not straightforward stress is likely superb. the first issue i'd do is eliminate the disk and connect it to a distinct computer for backup. Then, eliminate all extraneous playing cards from the computer , ensure the RAM and CPU are nicely seated, and the CPU fan is operating. See in case you may submit. Then one by ability of one upload elements back for your computer. relying on how a lot you fee time/money it may be worth basically getting a clean gadget. If the wiring at your position of abode is old, i fantastically recommend figuring out to purchase a UPS, like the APC BE350R back-united statesES for $40. I lived in an old progression and potential dips killed distinct computers, until eventually i realized what the priority replaced into and offered this kind of.

it appears that you have hard disc errors. i suggest buying a new hard drive. everything should start working again. dont hook up the old hard drive if it has viruses. but when you deleted the partitions and created a new one that should have deleted the viruses.
