I saved a puppy last night who had been left in the street and I'm going to vet to get her checked out and vaccinated etc but in the meantime I'm curious as to how old she is. All her teeth seem to have all come through, but only just. I've got her on the scales (in a fashion!) and came out at 0.5kgs. Do you know how i could find out how old she is? I'm thinking maybe around 2-2.5 months, does this sound about right? any info would be greatly appreciated.

If her teeth have all come through, shes probably about 3 months old. The vet can do eyes, nose, teeth check up and if you tell her the weight, she will look on a chart and tell you her age. Well done for taking her in. Most people will just leave her there and expect someone else to do it. I really admire you. Hope you have a long and happy life together =] xxx

Basic Training of the Puppy - Read here https://tr.im/uPp6S

The new puppy is certainly one of the most adorable and cuddly creatures that has ever been created. It is the most natural thing in the world to shower it with love and affection. However, at the same time it is important to realize that if you want to have a well trained adult dog, you need to begin the training process right away. The dog, like its related ancestor, the wolf, is a pack animal. One of the features of a pack is that it has a single dominant leader. Your new puppy is going to want that leader to be you, but if you do not assume that role from the very beginning, the puppy’s instincts will push him to become the leader.

The most important thing to remember about training the puppy during its first six months of life is that it must see you as the leader of the family pack. The essential thing is gaining the trust and the respect of the puppy from the beginning. You will not do this by allowing the puppy to do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it. On the other hand, a certain amount of patience is required. Most people err in their early training by going to extremes one way or the other. Although you need to begin the basic training process at once, you can not expect your dog to do too much at first. Basic obedience training is fine and should include simple commands like sit, stay, and come. Remember that trying to teach the dog advanced obedience techniques when it is a puppy is much like trying to teach a five year old child algebra.

It is also important to restrain from cruel or abusive treatment of the puppy. You can not beat obedience into your dog, and it certainly is not going to engender feeling of respect and trust. House breaking is an area where this usually becomes a problem because of the anger that is triggered when the puppy fails and creates a mess inside the home. Although this issue must be addressed without anger, it most be addressed. If you allow the puppy to eliminate inside the house, it will continue to do so as an adult dog. The same thing is true of other destructive or dangerous behavior such as chewing and biting. Do not expect the puppy to grow out of it. You are going to need to train the puppy out of it, but you should do so firmly but with a sense of play and fun using positive reinforcement and lots of love and praise for good behavior.

Vet will know, in the mean time you need to find out if any-one has lost this dog, if you only found it last night how do know its been abandoned it may have escaped from some-ones garden. One other point I took in a "german shepherd" pup because his owners didnt want him they said he was about 12 weeks old and not putting on much wieght [worms I thought] any-way. Turned out he was black and tan border collie cross. Had him for years he thought he was a cat.Thats another story though.

whilst she runs, she needs you to chase her. I understand which you may as a results of street, yet you're in basic terms encouraging the habit. working in the direction of in an enclosed back backyard (which i'm hoping you have) is the perfect thank you to coach her. you are able to desire to tutor her to come back whilst called so as which you would be able to call her faraway from threat and he or she gets the attention she desires. paintings along with her, supply her treats whilst she comes. A clicker is stable additionally, because of the fact it extremely works as a bridge between the action and the handle. My perfect advice for the airborne dirt and dirt is to spray some thing on it that she does not like. Apple sour is a competent candidate. domestic canines are going to chew, yet to help supply up her from biting people, in basic terms carry her muzzle close each and every time she does it. Their muzzles are very gentle precise with regard to the nostril and in basic terms a small volume of stress will discourage them. i do no longer think of you are able to supply up her from barking, it is kinda organic. the more suitable ingredient is to easily no longer reward her for the habit. So if she barks, do no longer circulate puppy her to make her supply up or yell at her or something... in basic terms permit her become bored with it.

I would say proberly about 4months,this puppy you may not be able to keep as it could be lost,if its micro chipped then it will be returned to its owner. If however the pup is homeless, then you can put your name down for adoption but will still have to wait untill its had all health checks etc done.Good luck.
