I was bitten as a child by a border collie. However, I deserved it. It was in its fenced yard, was already acting hyper and I was running back and forth in front of it. As a 10-year old I thought I was being funny, however now I know that I was actually teasing it. It was stupid and I had it comng when he jumped his fence, I ran off and he chased me and bit me on the butt. I was stunned, but got over it. Last week I was bitten by a Pekingese at a dog park (I was pulling it off my Golden Retriever puppy). I was more annoyed than upset, but I also made the choice to stick my hand in... so I shouldn't be surprised at getting bitten.

Some people are traumatized by dog bites. My mother-in-law was seriously bitten by a German Shepherd when she was young and is timid around dogs (she has not yet met our puppy) However, dogs are common in our world. Perhaps you need to see a counselor or someone to get tips on managing your fear of dogs.

I was bitten thirty years ago and I still, get that uneasy feeling, but I have learned that most dogs are okay, first I only like dogs that I have raised myself. And yes I have two dogs of my own. I have learn to watch a dog and see how it respond to other people and the noise level. Most people will not be walking their dogs around other people if they think they are going to bite somebody. If you see a dog that you feel is to close for comfort try to give them a wide birth and if that is not possible stop and look away so you are not afraid, because when a dog smells fear, that sometimes make them want to play with you. they know that they will not bite you but I believe they laugh at us and the joke is on you.

You have survived 7 years without another dog bite, I would think that you could go on and realize that it was an isolated incident. Either the dog was aggressive and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or you have learned how to approach dogs properly. Get on with your life and don't be afraid. 7 years is a good long time to be free of a dog bite.. and it is not normal for it to start getting stronger and stronger.. It should be diminishing at this point, entirely.. Be aware, but get out there and live your life!

hey listen here my thoughts on this, i own 7 dogs and owned at least 3o dogs i n my life time ,i ve been bitten for all sorts of reasons ,maily because they dog ,was a fear biter, or it was haveing puppy's, or it was a badly behaved dog that i rescued, what your feeling, is been dog shy now, not all dogs bite .most of the time it because they fear you , not the other way around, try not to show your fear as most dogs will back off before biting, watch for a wagging tail , in-fact most dog s don't really want to attack you ,it called selfpreservation ,they dont want to get hurt lol , listen chill out your be fine

I no longer fear dogs and they can also sense this from me as well too. I was bit and had 2 weeks of rabies shots as a result of the bite. The dog was never found. It might have died from biting me. Too bad I suffered alot as well from the trauma and the shots.

I think you need to seek professional help with this. It's normal to be afraid, but not for it to bother you this badly after all this time.

I've been bitten twice, but I handle dogs everyday. It's the individual dogs fault, not all dogs.
