she sounds like she would be a beautiful girl with perfect dimensions. unfortunately, media today depicts women to be rail thin and young girls (and older girls) are so impressionable that they immediately begin to judge themselves. i think she may even be influenced by her peers. do her friends or people at school make fun of her or make comments? it is at this age that the cattiness begins and it doesn't let up until, well ever really. girls tend to be harsh and judgmental because of their own insecurities - if this continues, she could really be in danger of going to drastic measures, especially if she is truly believing what she is saying. if she is saying "i'm fat" to get attn, then it might not be that big a deal, but if she truly thinks that she is fat, then some counseling might be a good idea before she turns to drastic measures like pills or an eating disorder to "make herself better". good luck and compliment her on something other than her looks EVERY DAY.

At 5' 3" she is just right, but at 10 years old she's considered tall for her age. Based on her age, and height, she should weigh more according to national standards. I hate to play the blame game, but the media poisions young minds, and gives them this twisted concept that being cadaver thin is the thing to do. A lot of young girls don't even know most pictures of models they see, are airbrused after photo shoots. My best friend was a model for Ford Modeling Agency, and told me to tell you this. Tell your sister this, and tell her she looks beautiful, and she does NOT need to loose weight!
