It's not the dog's weight that's the prime qualifier. You need to know if the dog is an excellent example of the breed (and that would mean being within the standard for size), has had all the appropriate health checks done, including brucellosis test, and has an impeccable temperament.

You should let your dog go into season at least 3 times. This will keep your female healthy and produce healthy pups. Dog usually go in heat every 4 to 7 months I think.
