There is no excuse for ever hitting a person or anything that has life in it.

There is never an excuse for a man to hit a woman or a child. If the man is in a dangerous situation, he should leave. I guess the only exception would be the minimum amount of force necessary to get out of danger.

That guy's a pig. He's obviously contradicting himself if you're a woman and he's going to, has, or wants to beat you.

A man has no right to lay his hands on women. I don't know about the guy world so maybe it's okay for them to hit each other. I don't profess to understand the male species.

Even if a woman is hitting a man, if he has to defend himself, he should restrain her, not strike back. Unless of course she's huge and he's a small, weak individual and has no choice left.

Men saying they don't hit females, only reflect that they are thinking about it, even if they don't carry it out. I think that as man has progressed thru time, so has his intellect and common sense. I like to believe that today most men don't hit females, but they are out their. But remember, a women who hits first has opened a whole new door. You don't have to or shouldn't stand there a take an a-- whipping

Do any of those men actually hit you? Let's get real, shall we? Lot's of people say things they won't do. "I'll kick your @$$," is such a common line dropped between males that it no longer carries any weight. No one believes they are actually going to strike anyone. In your case, without context, it's hard to say. I used to teach martial arts in a school with a dozen other instructors, about a third of them female. If you had any reservations about hitting them during the match, you may as well just kiss the floor. But these are martial arts teachers. Gender aside, I think it is very small-minded to threaten violence, even in a poor jest. Do you go out of your way to frustrate other people? Are these people actually serious, or just want you to quiet down? If you are regularly making people threaten you with violence (even in jest) I would recommend evaluating not only your own behavior, but the people and setting in which these issues come up. Remeber that violence or the threat of violence is always a last resort, to everyone. A person who defaults to violence or threats first is a person who can think of no other way to alter their situation, and are thus a very poor strategist, and probably not very bright. If you are bringing people to that threshold, I would wonder why. Are you purposely angering stupid people? But to answer your question directly, No person should inflict violence on another person, except in direct defense of themselves or another. Gender is a non issue.

Men shouldn't hit women, but they should defend themselves if they feel they are being attacked with deadly physical force. But even then, the man could subdue her without hurting her.

You don't need to be with someone who's beating on you. The violence can increase because you might be letting him get away with it. That "you're an exception" crap he's feeding you is to keep you from reporting him to either your male relatives or local law enforcement.

Then it's time to leave that male. A real man doesn't hit women.

A man shouldn't hit a woman unless that woman starts to hit like a man. She put herself in that position and a man still needs to protect himself. Now he shouldn't beat the hell out of her but stop her and control the situation.
