Ok so my cat had kittens last week and she does not like dogs that are loud and rambuncsus and I LOVE dogs and I have wanted one for so long but my mom said no and now we have a chance to watch a dog for 5 days in 2 weeks. He vever gois upstairs and he is very clam but also he is sorta og big. He is and english lab and I need this but I`m worried it will disturb my precise can. She likes dogs who are small and quiet but this dog is big and quiet. Would it be ok if we take care of him?

Ok yes i get many of your points about not doing it but what if the dog goes nowhere near the cat and satys on the first floor and the cat is on the third? Sorry I just really wnt this even if it is only for 5 days. But if i cant for the sake of my cat then I will give it up. :(

Don't do it. Your cat is trying to raise her babies. If you bring a strange animal into the home she'll frantically start moving her kittens from place to place, or even stop feeding them. You never want to stress a new mother. You'll just have to get over not having a dog in the house for the sake of the pet you already own.

EDIT: Your cat will smell the dog the second he enters the house. You cannot keep him far enough away in the same house not to stress her. Please don't do this, she could stop caring for her kittens altogether and leave you guys with 7 weeks of hand-feeding them. BAD idea!!!

I wouldn't take the chance. Your cat just had kittens and those kittens will only be 3 weeks old when this dog comes into the house. You may stress out the mother cat enough to wear she will hide even from the kittens or stop lactating therefore the kittens wouldn't get much milk. Now is not a good time for this test.

do you want a dog to get scratched here ,and maybe your cat may hurt it own kittens if it feels threated by the dog ,
let the dog go to the kennal a nd let some one else take care of the dog , you have your cat with kitttens
much safer with a without dog for 5 day runing around. if it was long term the dog could be trained that cats are fine, but
let not get into something you may regret later

If you can make sure that the cat has a quiet place for herself and her kittens, some place where the dog can't go (maybe you could use a baby gate or something), I think it'll be fine.

But you have to make sure that the dog won't bother the kittens - else the cat might kill him ;)

Is he well trained, or trainable? I would try the dog out for the 5 days. If he doesn't bother the cat, but the cat still seems different, such as more nervous or upset than usual, then don't get the dog. Cats are very delicate, and get stressed out and nervous if something major changes. My cat was terrified when we got a new cat, a larger, more agressive coon. She was always shaking and her hair started falling out. I don't think you want your kitty to go through that, so put her first.

i would. dogs are great if the cat and the kittens are on the third floor( asuming it's not an attic) they will be fine. jst keep them seperated for the kitten sake. and monator their feedings and stress levels. it's only 5 days
