Saying Solomon said everything is "meaningless"?
Didn't He use the word Vanity? False Pride?
The Way of the Warrior teaches that man has too much self-importance.
If someone just looks at him, he thinks the person is looking at HIM!
If two people are talking, he thinks they're talking about HIM!
If two people share a laugh, he thinks they're laughing at HIM!
Do you understand this selfish aspect of the body?

The word translated "vanity" in the KJV, (meaningless in some modern translations) is the Hebrew word "hebel" (Pronounced heh'bel) and is Strong's Reference # 1892. It is derived from HSN1891 (to lead astray or to be vain); emptiness or vanity; figuratively, something transitory and unsatisfactory; and is often used as an adverb.

As to the modern translations, you will notice that vanity can be defined as meaningless in just about any dictionary. I am including a link from dictionary.com to demonstrate this. (See definitions 4 & 5 at the link as examples.)

Vanity really is a meaningless exercise anyway.

Young or old, the sense that one exists, drives the wheel of activities, fitted to his aspirations, needs, qualities imbibed and internalised, circumstances, environments, expectation of self and others.
That means that to continue his existence in the society he should exhibit his individualities. Once born in this world he has no other option but to live until his death and that life and exertions to live continues only to satisfy needs of others and also of his own self.

But on the day when he breaths his last his past looses its values or sheen where the question of future stands still. Then every thin is a vanity, either knowledge, wealth or relationships. Solomons words are valid today also.

Hmmmm, I always thought those words meant that in and of himself man has no real meaning. Live centered around only man are all about man with no real depth. The only was to have meaning is to find your place in God and live there.
