Despite a housing shortage, strain on our Health service, overcrowding on transport and congestion on our roads, we are still allowing more people in by the bucket load. Isn't this country full yet?

It's called modern day slavery. The repugs claim that this is the fault of the bleeding heart liberals, yet their beloved Reagan declared the first amnesty. Thats where it started. This country cannot take on any more people. And people that are born here are Americans. That's for those ignorants that think I am an immigrant. My ancestors came here LEGALLY over 120 years ago. Learned English, got no aid, did not have documents printed in their foreign language, and if they needed a doctor, paid for it either with cash, or trade. They worked this land and made it what it is today. They were the best citizens this country ever saw, and never sent a dime to their old country.

We are taking too many because our schools and health care and services are failing under the strain. Some try to brush this off with 'you have so much room' but a lot of our 'space' isn't really buildable like the deadlands, and we need open space and farmland. The world is trying to tell us we don't need farmland, but no way do I want to be dependant on foreign food with the population growth numbers coming that the UN has just released. Also, those in Europe and asia feel we aren't full until we are as full as they are, but who wants to be that crowded? If we did, we wouldn't have gone INTENTIONALLY to less than replacement population growth.

We already have severe water shortages coming in the southwest, and the world simply can't support the coming population. I have no idea what the answer is, but they can't all come here.

To me it is a receipe for total disaster. I don't beleive we exactly have a housing shortage....but an affordable housing shortage depending on where you live.

It seems they are wanting a disposable group of people to pick from. I worked at a big box store a few years ago.....they would can an elderly person simply because the boss fancied a new applicant. His attitude was for every person here there's a 100 applicants who want this job. People will say..."oh, but there's a law"....ya...prove it. They didn't want people talking to each other and they would single people out who appeared to be "too" friendly. I don't mean romantically.....you were definately out then.....just friends. Sometimes it was necessary but they often didn't want you jointly working on a project. That way it was always your word against theirs. They would make agreements verbally and then play stupid because it wasn't in writing. Get it in writing and you were pegged as a problem and soon to be shown the back door. Usually by changing your schedual the day you had off to "give reason" for your firing. You had nothing to stand on. They'd never allow the schedual to be copied. Now I know we're talking low end jobs here...some mid....but that's where many of our illegals are comming to compete with or even the young of legal immigrants. They are hammering at both ends. There needs to be a major halt and a chance to catch our breath if we are to somehow fix this problem. I don't think they want to fix it......I think they want us to be kept on survival mode and our attentions on that, so we don't pay attention to what the real agenda is.

The fact that so many have started waking up has sort of put a crimp in their plans. The longer they can drag this out now, the better for them. Divide and conquor.

The reason this occurs is because the country elected Bush as Pres. (sort of). He is controlled by big business and right wing interests that like cheap labor they can get from immigrants. Most immigrants will work for almost nothing and send 90% of it back to relatives in their country. This makes them bad citizens with no desire to become Americans. But the restaurant owners love it. Did you see Bush and INS Director on TV when they said that these immigrants are just doing jobs that Americans don't want. But they didn't ask anybody that was unemployed. Isn't that why they convicted those 2 border agents of simply doing their job.

We don't have a housing shortage, we have a surplus of housing, the health service is only because people don't PAY for the services they are given, and I live in Iowa, most people's neighbors are 2-3 miles away. We just need GOOD immigrants that want to contribute to the system and not just take.

What do you mean by immigrants? Legal or illegal? or for the PC (silly) crowd legal or undocumented?

We have not opened our doors. Neither have we closed them. We just have no inclination to control it because people are making money off of it from the people that support the transmigration of people across soverign boundaries (did I say that correctly PC crowd), the people that hire them, and the politicians seeking votes ($$$ and job security).

Think of the USA as a sponge. Someday there has to be a critical mass whereby no more water can be absorbed.

It was full 50 years ago, and people were clamoring to close the borders then.

The reason we haven't closed the border u\is v\because there are too many bleeding heart liberals who think that everyone should be able to live and have access to the same freedoms we have.

I do not begrudge these immigrants wanting a better life, but why can't they fix their own countries, rather than coming here and turning us into a third world country.

Sorry if I offend, but I'm old, I'm grumpy and my head hurts.

Legal immigration helps the USA and is the right thing to do.

Allowing illegal immigration is bankrupting this country and is evil.

All the pro illegals gain personally from the illegal aliens.

WHY? Because big business wants cheaper labor - which means more profit for the select few.

I could go on and on with many points - but the crux of it is just that - MONEY and POWER.

Truthfully i really dont care about illegal immigrants coming into our border...
all i care about them doing is applying for citizenship, learning ENGLISH, and if they have children there are not citizens.

I do care if they are terrorists.

the border is desert. that is a very dangerous obsticle. if they are that desperate they will get in no matter what you put in front of them. so just let them come over and if they get caught they should be punished (severly).

Yes were are "over populated" and we can't control more and more people having children and people coming into this country.
