Im 13 and im planning on buying new clubs but im not sure if i should get them fitted because i took a 6 inch growth spurt this year and even though that probably wont happen again i dont kno if i should put a lot of money into custom fitted clubs when i might outgrow them in a year or two...what do you think?

Nah, dont get fitted at that age. You're going to get bigger and stronger in the next year and outgrow the fitting.

Buy a decent set of clubs standard off the shelf. Nothing too expensive, but something that will retain it's resale or trade-in value because you may have to trade them in the next few years.

When you're 17 or 18 - thats when to pull out all the stops and get fitted.

i would suggest getting them fitted for you. because, when they are fitted for you then you tend to hit the ball better. but when you just go out and buy some clubs that feel good... you have a smaller chance of hitting the ball like you want. i would suggest going to a golf retail store (i only know of golf galaxy and golf discount) and each store has a pro in there and talk to the pro. They will watch your swing and suggest some clubs and then if you like the clubs you can take them how they are (because you know you like them and how they feel) or you can ask if they need to do anything to the clubs so that fit you right. and if you grow again... just go back and they can usually add length to the shaft (not all the time but sometimes).
i was going to get some info on club fittting for you but... the website i was looking at is down. but go to www.golfgalaxy.com and at the top there will be a tab that says lessons or fitting or something. just look around and see.
good luck!!

people are saying don't get fitted... but please trust me. i am 14 and i didn't get fitted for clubs when i was 13 and i wasn't hitting them well so, i went to my cousin and he fitted them for me and now i hit them 10 times better. if you want to hit the ball well.. PLEASE go get fitted. i am not just saying this b/c i have family in the golf business but b/c i was in the same situation as u and have friends who bought clubs, didn't get fitted and now they are totally regreting it. you may seem young to get fitted but.. trust me... it will make a HUGE difference in your golf game

Skip the fitting at your age. Your still going to grow in leaps and bounds. Also be aware that if you ask a club fitter if you should get fitted he's going to tell you yes because THAT'S WHAT HE DOES, that's how he makes his living. When you get in your later teens and your growth slows down then you should consider getting fitted. You can have extenders added to your clubs and grips until that point. Until then grip and rip it. Have fun.

Get regular clubs and if you need to you can put a better shaft in them.
