i have a freind who is younger than i am, who also started lifting at his freshman year like i did, but he can lift the same amount. also he is shorter if that too makes a difference. i was wondering if being shorter and having higher body fat make a difference in ur ability to lift or gain muscle.

In some ways, yes. A person with more body fat is able to burn off fat alot faster than the average person because their body fat isnt packed as tightly and it is a different type of fat referred to as "Brown fat." In the case of lifting weights a short larger person may be able to build muscle faster but he will hit a plateau of progress soon that will be difficult to overcome.

if he actually tried to work out and burn all that fat into muscles i think he would gain a lot b/c muscles are fat and if u don't have any fat u would gain any muscles
