My dad is 60 and he just stopped biting his when a friend suggested he see a mancurist. The girl he goes to puts a coat of acrylic on his own nails and keeps them nice and short and even on the ends. They are too thick to bite and they look a thousand time better. He is tickled to death with it and is glad to finally have found a way to stop.

There is this clear coat type nail polish that has a bitter taste in it everytime you bite your nails it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. My mother did it to me when I was young and it worked. I'm not sure wher eyou can buy it though, but that might be something to look into...plus nobody will be able to tell it's on there.

i disagree with the whole painting your nails unless you are a lady or a 60 year old gay guy - they make a scented oil that is made for younger kids to help them stop sucking their thumbs but works the same for nail bitting. the oil is really hot and has a terrible taste good luck

I had two brothers that did the same thing. My mother found a way to get them to stop. Try putting WITCH HAZEL on your nails. They said that it tastes so bad, that they didn't do it any more.

Good Luck!!

Find a manicurist and have acrylics put on. You'll love the way it looks and trust me, you cannot bite them or your jaw will fall off.
Maintenance is required every 2-3 weeks.
Have fun with it,

Good luck

Try putting nail polish on. The taste of it is not something you will likely enjoy. Talk to someone about what is bothering you.
