There are 2 types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is the kind you are born with...your body does not have the ability to make insulin, which is essential for processing sugar in the bloodstream. Type 1 diabetes cannot be cured, but can be managed with diet and medication.

Type 2 diabetes is "developed" within the body. Your body becomes "immune" to its own insulin, usually because over time it takes more and more insulin to process the sugar in a person's bloodstream. Type 2 diabetes is also called "Adult Onset" diabetes. Quite often, obese people develop Type 2 diabetes. Thankfully, type 2 diabetes can be overcome by adapting a healthly lifestyle: losing weight, exercising, and carefully monitoring a person's intake of sugar, starches / carbohydrates, and processed foods. It is possible to get the blood sugar under control enough to be able to cease the diabetic medication (with Dr supervision), but the person will always have to be careful and monitor themselves.

Excess blood sugar and excess insulin in the body can both be dangerous. Diabetics whose blood sugar is too high or too low may exhibit odd behaviour, become dizzy, lose consciousness, lapse into a coma. Yes, diabetes can be fatal if blood sugar is not monitored and controlled. Diabetics also do not have the same healing properties as healthy people, so if they suffer even a small bruise, cut or other injury, it must be looked at by Dr and taken seriously. Another concern of diabetics is their eyesight...uncontrolled diabetes can cause blindness.

The best way to help your mom is to educate yourself about diabetes and learn about the diet she needs to follow and her blood testing regimen and medications. If she is newly diagnosed, it can be very depressing. Be supportive and accept any dietary changes with a good attitude. It will be easier for her if the whole family begins eating healthy and keeps sugar and processed foods out of he house. Join in an exercise routine with her, even just taking walks would be helpful.

As long as your mom takes care of herself, follows the Dr's advice, and has the support of her family she should do fine.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yes to both questions. It's both deadly and curable. Diabetes is a matter of diet. Your mother is eating things she shouldn't be eating or she's not eating the things she should be eating. Eating right is not an easy thing to do, with all the garbage that's for sale in the grocery stores; however, the five worst foods are: 1.) chips 2.) french fries 3.) soda 4.) donuts and 5.) fried foods.

You can have fried foods if you if you cook in coconut oil. It's the only oil you should cook in. Stay away from vegetable oils. They are really bad for the body.

Some of the best foods for you are your fruits, vegetables, nuts (stay away from peanuts), fish (wild caught not farmed), and it really helps to take vitamins.

For more information on diabetes you can go to Dr. Mercola.com and find out about most any health problems.

Good luck to you and your mom. PS. Try prayer.

I'm guessing she has type 2? Well, my best friend has type 1 (childhood or juvenile) diabetes and no, your mom won't die from it.

It's not curable but it's treatable (with insulin or just a diet change in type 2). It can make your life shorter by a couple of years statistically, and it can cause complications to do with your kidneys, feet and eyes but if your mom keeps her blood sugar levels down she will be just fine.

Please try not to worry! =]

Diabetes does lead to increased risk of stroke, heart, liver and kidney disease (Type 1 and 2) and Diabetes is also the #1 cause of amputation in the US.

250 people have limbs amputated in the US each day due to the effects of diabetes.

While there are drugs (or insulin, depending on your needs) to "manage" the symptoms of diabetes, none of those drugs improve health or reduce any of those risk factors.

Your mom should begin the process of learning how to eat better foods, and chose foods that have the best nutrition level per servings. Also, avoiding artificial sweeteners will reduce toxic load on her liver.

Focusing on "wellness" can and will reduce those health risks and she can live a long and healthy life.

Diabetes is not curable, but it can be controlled. Yes, people can, and do, die from complications of diabetes.

Diabetes causes problems with blood vessels, and therefore can lead to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, blindness and kidney failure, among other things.

The best way to avoid these complications is to keep tight control of blood sugar levels.

Your mom needs to contact your local hospital and ask about diabetes education. Most hospitals have people who will help her with nutrition, foot and wound care, medication and other issues.

If you want to help, do the research for her, and go with her to any appointments so that you can help her.

Good luck to both of you.
