The simple truth is that it is because of "FAITH".
It is a collection of writings by people inspired by God that has helped many live a more productive life.
That you don't believe doesn't mean that others are going to follow your opinion. I don't begrudge your opinion. Why is it that you have a problem with others not in agreement with you?

For those who would say the Bible is not the Word of God, or that the Bible contains numerous errors I would say this: Paul could say in 2nd Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." That's the Greek word, "theopneustos" meaning "God-Breathed." Every single word was given from God to 40 different men, and 2nd Peter 1:21 adds: "for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." Now that was the Old Testament. The New Testament wasn't in existence when Paul used these verses. He was telling the churches in his letters what had happened in the past, but in John 16:12-13, Jesus talked about the coming of the New Testament. He says, "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."
That's the New Testamant. And we can say with John 17:17, "Your Word is Truth." Today, we have 66 books written by 40 different individuals on 3 continents covering a period of 1,500 years and there's not one mistake, regardless of what some of the critics say. They haven't studied God's Word enough to know the truth. Among the writers we had kings, poets, philosophers, prophets, scholars and fisherman. And I want you to know we have all of the Word of God today. Someone says, "Yes, but we don't have the original manuscripts" Who said so?
We have copies totalling 24,800. Now, how do we know that they're right? Well, if you take 20 items and you compare them and 19 state one thing and one doesn't, then the one is in error. We've got 24,800 manuscripts that exist today to compare one against another and we have another 80,000 quotations from the church fathers, enough to put the entire Bible together with the exception of 11 verses. Take the 80,000 quotations from the church fathers and the 24,800 manuscripts for a total of 104,800 and you have all of God's Word dozens and hundreds of times. This is so because God's Word is literally flawless. After computers have compared millions, or even billions, of letters in analyzing the 104,800 manuscripts the texts are basically flawless. So, don't listen to the critics. The Bible is the Word of God.

I totally agree with you. What did God do...FedEx it from heaven. Also many agree that the original scriptures were written in many different languages ranging from Aramaic to early Hebrew. As time went on the translations have changed. Therefore how does one know if what they are reading is actually correct. Plus Jesus was Jewish so why are Christians not following the Jewish texts?
Also just because Eve ate from the 'Tree Of Knowledge' God said that all women would suffer during childbirth. How can God be benevolent if he does that. Eve wanted to learn. What did God want. For all humans to be automatons under his power. God is meant to be loving an omnipotent. If he is the latter he would stop things. If he can't then he isn't all powerful. If he can then he basically doesn't give a ****.
The bible was written by man simply to opress women

Just as an employer would delegate work to his/her employees, God delegated writing to various people over the course of history, to record His interaction with people, so that His message of salvation could be known throughout the earth.
In all there are 40 different writers, over a huge time period (1500 years), from different geographical settings. Yet, their description of God and their message about how we can know God is the same.
Inspired literally means God-breathed, or from God's Spirit. God was completely involved. It was like the collaborative work of two writers (God being the primary author, then each of the human authors). God guided them regarding what to say, write, include.
Here is a verse in the Bible that clearly show the human authors were being guided by God as to what to write:
You must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. (2Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that the Bible is inspired word of God. God let Moses to perform some miracles so that people believed him. The Bible is historically very reliable.
Jesus confirmed the Old Testament and promised the New Testament. When you let Holy Spirit in your heart, the Bible starts to communicate with you. : )
Give it try. : )

Because from the time they could understand anything their parent taught them about this book. They have then been taken to religous places and whenever they have asked a question they have been told not to ask questions just to believe. They are brainwashed by their religion and will not accept after that that they have lived most of their life in complete illusion and all they have believed in is a lie and they cannot accept that and force themselves to keep
believing.
I was very lucky I had parents who where wise my mother went to a Catholic all girls school ans saw what went on there between the sisters and the students and the treatment that was given. My father was from a family of coalminers who had a very harsh treatment. They moved to Australia just after I was bourne and at that time Australia was not bound in religous rubbish so I avoided the bible for many years. When I moved back to England I came into contact with it again but had many questions, I was told not to ask so many questions. I ignored this and kept asking questions maybe not so many but very difficult for the ministers and teachers to answer. My class started hearing the answers that didnt make sense and more and more children atarted asking questions. I was taken to the headmaster and told to stop asking religous questions or I would get suspended and maybe even expelled. So I stopped but it was too late questions where still asked. 4 Years later religous lessons where removed from the school.

I am independantly religious( I do not claim a denomination)but I do agree with you. It is because I believe in God that I take offence to some of the things in the bible. That God would tell a man to kill his son just to see if the man would do it ,then take it back at the last second, depicts an insecure, selfish (and ficticious being) rather than the all mighty, all loving God whom I pray and give thanks to. Organized religion is man made, The awsome Jesus had no denomination. I believe if more people where made to realise that God is all love and not this judgemental beast that some people make him out to be then less people would take a swing at religion in general.

Your Right just because a book says its the word of God doesnt make it true. ie the Koran and book of Mormon. Also just because a Scientist says something or is published doesnt make it true. So why do people believe in anything faith. And there perspective of facts and reasoning.

Nevermind man's meddling. The Bible still has value.
Too many people read our Holy Writings and pick out what goes along with their own way of thought. But our Creator knows the complexity of human
individuality.
And what might not appeal to you, might reach someone else.

I guess one more reason why so many people trust it is because people like you never bothered to actually read it yourself, for if you did you would'nt "pick and choose" scripture to twist and turn to give your own deep insecurities and need of daily illusion a psychological boost. Besides, 2 Timothy 3:16 clearly reads that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God...." That man wrote it-duh. It was who inspired him to write it that aces your implication by way of genetic fallacy that somehow it isn't true or relevant. Get a life.
