take on day at a time, don't let things get to you and when they do you just find someone to talk to. It helps and makes you feel a little better.
Take your meds as the doc orders and don't hold anything back from the docs cause it could be something more than you think.
good luck

I was diagnosed with mixed bi-polar in 1987 with racing thoughts. Mixed means that I swing from high to low within hours. Therefore, finding the right medications was always a problem, but I have been stable for for some time now. Through the years, have been hospitalized about four times. The worst part of being bi-polar is the social stigma, and it served me well to talk to my family and close friends. Having a caring and knowledgeable psychiatrists and seeing him regularly is a must. If there are any side effects from the meds, report it. to your psychiatrist so that changes can be made as necessary. Usually bi-polar patients are on lithium, a good doctor would make sure that the level is within range because you can become toxic. I have been highly successful in my career and have the love of my family. As you have been recently diagnosed. I understand what you are going through because it is not an easy road to start. Be easy on yourself, and keep telling yourself, you are going to be okay. Shh. . . I always liked the part of being manic because I was able to do so much. Life gets better!

First you have to find the proper Doctor to prescribe the correct meds. The process can take long. I take depakote, after years of trying different meds. I usually ended up in the psyc. ward twice a year (suicide) before depakote, have been on it for over a year and have not had depression or manic episodes. Sleep, and diet are also very important, as is learning as much as you can about the illness. You have to learn what triggers your mania and remove it from you life if you can. This can mean changing residence or jobs, stress is a big factor. Talk therapy can also be helpful in identifying your "triggers".

the lovely manic... oi.... umm for me a lot of exercise really helps and some medication that calms me or knocks me out. Also stay away from that caffeine or anything that shoots your body up or down. Going to bed at the same time every night helps too. I need to take meds for sleep and its great going to bed at the same time other people do. So basically a good routine some meds and some exercise. Its hard and you can also ask your doc for some ideas as well.

Journal is a great answer, it helps your doc. if they know the type you have and tey can better serve you with the meds. It takes time. After 16 yrs i can spot a high or low a mile away. After a while yu get in tune and you recognize it. Write in ajouranl about how you feel daily and you can better determine the length between changes. That is esp good for girls and PMS. No need worry you are safe therebuckaroo.

I spoke with my Hybby, asked him nicely not to get at me as I will blow up in hi face, We get things 2gether,

Journal, take your meds and go see a therapist that specializes in Bipolar. Make sure you're on the right meds and not on simple antidepressants.
