I've been to the doctor, but I'm looking for other opinion before I go back.
It all began this past Thursday when I just felt worn out. Friday it got worse so I spent the majority of the day in bed. As the day progress a sore throat began to materialize which was preventing me from sleeping it was so sore. Felt what I imagine swallowing shards of glass would be like. Went to the pharmacy to some Ibuprofen which helped me through the night. I decided to go to the doctor saturday morning. He took a quick look at me and gave me a script for penecilin. My throat is no any better after taking the penecilin for a full day and I've now got white/yellowish patches and a few little red nodes all over the back of my throat.

What ever this is I think that it is working its way up my eustacian tubes an into my ears. Can anyone confirm if this is just a bad case of strep, or something. And what can I do for the pain. I'm already on Tylenol, Advil, Penecilin, pills for sleep

In order for the Penicillin to work you have to take it for the full time and not miss any doses. That is how that works. The medication only really starts to work after like the 5th day and way after you stop taking it. Stay on the Penicillin. If you stop taking it the infection will not go away. The only way those anti-biotics work is by not missing a dose and seeing it through. Trust me. Stick with it and it will go away. If it gets bad enough you can always go back to the hospital or doctor and ask for a narcotic to help you sleep if it gets really bad.

When I have a sore throat I usually just suck on cough drops, eat soup and gargle warm salt water (really works).

Warm tea with honey works really well to soothe the shards of glass feeling in your throat. Even if you can't stand hot tea (I'd be exhibit A on that), you'll love the way it feels going down. You could also try one of those medicated throat sprays that temporarily numbs the area. I'd also recommend a humidifier when you sleep to keep the room moist. Keep your ceiling fan off. If things don't clear up once you've finished taking the penicillin, go back to the doctor. I hope you feel better soon!

There is a penicillin resistant strep but it would take the meds several days to work, it's not an overnight cure.

You can gargle with warm salt water about every 3 or 4 hours. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 4 oz of warm water. (not so hot you can't hold it in your mouth but not cold)

something cold helps, crushed ice or ice cream is good to temporally numb the pain.

it sounds like a very bad case of strep.

Tylenol and Advil are both worthless for sore throat pain. Use Chloraseptic (phenol) or Sucrets (dyclonine) spray.

Next time, ask the pharmacist who gave you the antibiotic, rather than seeking out guesses and "gee, wouldn't it be nice" here.

If it's white it could be strep throat, or if your really tired you could have mono. It could just be a really bad sinus infection. you should check out www.webmd.com
