Sorry. I know those hurt so bad.
You DO need antibiotics.Without, this infection could effect your kidney's and no body wants that.
Your doctor can also give you some pain meds. There are many OTC kinds that work well also.
You must finish all the antibiotics- do not stop when you feel better. The pain meds are not a cure.
People will tell you to drink cranberry juice. They are wrong.Cranberry juice is too acidic once you have an infection.
It is a good drink to help keep the infections at bay but not while you are sick.
Good luck and feel better soon.

Try the following self-help for 24 hours or go ahead and see your doctor. If symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, you should see a physician.
Drink one glass of water every hour for 8 hours. Then drink as much water as you can for the next 16 hours. Drinking water helps dilute and flush out the bacteria that are trying to stick to the bladder walls and the urinary tract.
Drink as much unsweetened cranberry juice (obtained from a health food store) as you can tolerate. Cranberry juice prevents bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall and urinary tract. Its acidity may make urine more acidic and less hospitable for bacterial growth.
Decrease caffeine and alcohol intake to reduce irritation of the bladder and urethra.
Avoid intercourse for 3-5 days and wear cotton underwear

AZO makes a cranberry unirnary tract health suppliment that is supposed to prevent it from happening. Not meds, just herbs. Since it's cranberry it would probably help ease the discomfort as well. And drink LOTS Of H2O!!!

* Drink plenty of fluids, at least three litres a day.(15 glasses)
* Pass urine once in three hours.
* Empty the bladder thoroughly while urinating. The trick is to lean backwards not forwards so that the last few drops come out.
* After going to the toilet, wash from front to back and not the other way. This is particularly important in children.
* Avoid using deodorants and hygiene sprays in the genital area.
* Pass urine immediately after intercourse and then drink a glass of water. Drinking cranberry juice regularly protects against cystitis. The natural ingredients in cranberry juice prevent bacteria from sticking to the wall of the urinary bladder.

Well assuming you have an infection-could just be bacterial and causing irritation. Of course the MD would say to take appropriate antibiotic that is sensitive to the organism causing your infection. If you do not need or want an Rx you can always drink cranberry juice-the acid in the cranberry keeps bacteria from adhereing to the bladder wall. Also do not have bubble baths-drying to the mucus membrane and can cause breakdown and allow bacteria to thrive. Use mild soaps such as dove and rinse well. Good luck!

Melody...why not medicine? I hope you are not opposed to seeing an MD. Here is what I do know, Melody. UTI's in females can be absolutely miserable. I have seen ladies so completely distressed they could not even walk...truly! Do not risk a more serious situation. If you are not getting better, see the MD.

cranberry juice is good & drink lots of water.
you can also buy cranberry capsules over the counter to take.
if youre sure this is a uti, you really should see a doctor. Sometimes just treating at home doesnt always cure it.
