Currently my HDTV setup is a component video cable that runs from my cable box to my TV. I also have a DVD player that connects to my TV with an HDMI cable. My cable box does not have an HDMI output, it only has DVI. I heard that DVI and HDMI are better quality than component, so I am considering buying an adapter to convert the DVI output on the cable box into the HDMI input on my TV and run two additional audio cables for sound. I could then connect my DVD player with the component cable I already have. Is this the best way to go?

Thanks

I am not sure what Jefferson is smoking, but if the manufactures comply with HDMI specifications, and some do not, you will get the best signal from an HDMI connection. Cheaper model of equipment take short cuts and do not keep up with specification and you could see a better signal on component cables. However is you purchased a quality TV or component, you will get a superior signal using HDMI connectivity.

HDMI and DVI output a digital signal. Your HDTV uses that digital signal to produce a picture. Component video is an analog signal. Your HDTV has to convert that analog signal to digital before being able to display the picture. IF your HDTV does that conversion well you might not see very much difference between HDMI/DVI and component. Since all HDTV's are not created equal, the only way to be sure is to try it and see.

the two HDMI and ingredient can transmit 720p alerts. yet 720p is the optimum for ingredient cable. yet why are you getting 720p purely. kit up for 1080p. do not waste your PS3s finished 1080p HD capacity for 720p TVs purely.
