According to the book of Deutronomy 18:18.
18:18 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) has all the characteristics that Prophet Moses(peace be upon him) had.

So is Muhammad the promised massiah, if not then why?

LMAO!

Somebody said that Mohammad wasn't a Jew?

Mohammad bin Abd'allah al Muttailib was a beni al Quraish Jew!

He traced his lineage back to Ishmael son of Hagar and Abraham!

However, he did not fullfil any of the prophecies of the Messiah, Isa bin Maryam, Jesus Christ did and is called al Massihe for that.

By the way, I'm not a Jew, either.

Cheers!

No, he isn't.

Here are the reasons.

1) The passage you quote is not talking about the Messiah or a "special prophet". It is talking about prophecy in general. See the passage IN CONTEXT.

2) Your argument that Mohammed is a "special prophet" who is like unto Moses is a handwaving argument. In other words, it is predicated on Islamic beleif, not on Jewish beleif. Who's to say that he is? You? Such an argument only appeals to a Muslim who already beelives that. Why can;t it be Samuel for instance?

3) Although you haven't mentioned it, I know the basis of your "argument" that Mohamed, being from Ishmael, is considered the Jewish people's "brethern" as Ishmael was Isaac's brother.
This is bunk. According to that logic, the Jewish kings were not allowed to be Jewish since the Bible says that the king must be from one's brother. Yet, G-d explicitely told Samuel to annoint Jewish Kings for that role (ie. Saul and David).
So, in this content, it is clear that the prophet MUST be Jewish and that is why it says "brother".

Oh contraire. Muhammad is said to have had all the qualities. (a) this contradicts the bible directly, which says Moses is the supreme prophet for all time (b) who said Muhammad was a prophet besides him? He never proved himself in any way to be a prophet.

Muhammad is not of the lineage of David, and so does not qualify as the Meshiach.
