my dog is in heat and my question is how often does this occur in one year. She is a year old Cane corso ?

every 6 months for most dogs. So about 2 a year.

It usually occurs twice a year although some dogs have been known to come in heat only once and others 3 times.

To avoid heat cycles, unplanned pregnancy, increased risk of mammary cancer, eliminate reproductive cancers and a very serious uterine infection that is often fatal called pyometria I would recommend getting her spayed within 30 days of the end of her heat.

i think its twice a year but it can vary from dog to dog. im not 100% sure cos my feamle dog is only a year and a few months , she did have one heat already back in july so i thought she might have had another by now but has not yet anyway. so my facts are based on what iv looked up and asked others on same topic

Primative dogs such as basenji's only go into heat once a year. But you dog will probably go into heat every 5-6 months. My border colllie used to bleed until we got her spayed. Get her spayed!

Twice a year roughly.
Another thing...be forewarned...dogs DO NOT enter menopause. So NEVER assume they'll be too old to have puppies. I found THAT out when our 10 year old yorkie got knocked up.
