Is it ok to keep the film on the spoll to dry? If not what is a good way to get your negatives to dry at home if you dont have a dryer to put the negatives in.

If you dry on the spool, the roll of negatives will be all curled and unmanageable. Take them of the spool and hang on a line with a bulldog type clip at both ends. The top clip holds the negatives to the line and the bottom clip provides weight so that they will hang straight. Don't forget to do a final rinse in with that solution that prevents the water from forming spots. I've been out of the darkroom for too long to remember names.

Not a good idea to let the photos dry on the spool, especially if you haven't done a final wash in photo flow. The solution to drying photos when you dont have a dryer is simply letting them air dry. It will take longer, but if you make sure to sponge off the excess water, and you made sure to do a final wash with photo flow, you shouldn't have to worry about water spots. To let them air dry get yourself a clothes hanger, and and some clothes pins (the kind that you use to hang up wet clothing outside) Make sure that wherever you hang the negs that they are not in contact with clothing which may shed lint, or in an area where there is lots of dust. Also it is not a good idea to let them hang outside. Personally I hang my negs in the bathroom.

Leaving it on the spool will tend to cause water spots on the low side of the spool. I find simply hanging the film with a clothes pin (spring type) off a wire hanger is the easiest way. if the film tends to curl I clip a second cloths pin on the bottom side of the film.

This also allows you to use a film sqeege if you wish to wipe off more water quicker.

Only in a air dryer

It's best to let it hang with a weight on the bottom so the WATER will move down and drop to the floor

ALSO use PHOTO FLO or a drop of Ivory Soap in half a gallon of water as a WETTING AGENT

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is if you mean rolled up - but it shouldn't even have the spool hanging on the end of the unrolled film.
If you're thinking of using the spool in place of a weight to keep the strip of film straight during processing, don't do that.
