Yes, this is the process of creating a "mini-dvd" which is simply a cd-r with dvd files on it.

Assuming The DVD is not copy protected you can copy the files from it into a folder on your harddrive. Right click the folder and check the size via "properties". If it is less than 700mb then you can get straight to burning them onto a CD. Just open your usual CD writing software, place the file from the folder onto the CD, if you have the option select "Disc-at-once" burning and of you go.

Note:

The full version of Nero has a Mini-DVD option which guides you through the process.

If your files are more than 700mb then you need to "transcode" the DVD to decrease the file size (at the loss of quality). Look for the program "DVDshrink" to do this.

If the DVD is copy-protected to begin with then you must rip it, which means copying the files to your harddrive on the fly using a program such as "smartripper 2.41", you must ensure you are legally entitled to rip the DVD.

i dont think you can burn it to a CD-r because this is only meant for music and audio you need a dvd-r to do the slide show, I tried this when doing my own slide shows
