IS is an enlisted rating. a college degree will net you E3 upon enlisting, but that is it. a degree is NOT a guarentee of a Commission.

If you wish to become an Officer, then choose a college with a NROTC program and join that. you incure an obligation in your junior year, but before that you do not.

there are three different Communities you could choose: Intell, Information Warfare and Information Professional. IWO and IP deal mainly with collecting and translating data from the bad guys. Intell anyalizes it. Of course, there is no guarentee that you will be picked up for any of these programns... they take around 100 new accessions each year for each community.. from all commissioning sources.. ROTC, STA-21 and OCS.

Nrotc
naval reserve officer training corps if your grades are good enough they will pay for school
but there is a lot of stuff besides school to do summer cruises, marching
you don't have to join at the beginning of college you can join after graduation by going to OCS ( 180 day wonder school) ;)
oh yes officers don't enlist they get their commission.
