What is the official rule about wearing flip flops while wearing the PT uniform?

What is the official rule about wearing flip flops while wearing the PT uniform? Does it say in the FM anywhere? I don't have time to look it up myself. I'm specifically wondering about wearing flip flops outside but on the same living pad.

AR 670-1 is the regulation

I will paraphrase:

You can wear parts of the IPFU with civilian clothes off the installation, but on the installation wear of the uniform is the discretion of the commander.

If they tell you that you can't wear it...you can't.
