Watch her because this can become a vicious cycle.

My son did this - he held it, became constipated, it hurt, so he held it again to avoid the hurt, and it became a real issue.

Try glycerin suppositories. It almost always works, and it is predictable because they go about 15min. later.

And then keep with the high-fiber, prune juice, etc. to keep her regular so that she doesn't become dependent on a remedy to have to go.

She may just not have to go. Constipation is never an emergency (quote from my doc). Some kids have a BM every 5-7 days, and it still is ok. As long as she doesnt have a hard stool, then sheis fine. My infant only poops every 5 days, and it fine. My son on the other hand is a twice-a-day-er. Every kid is different. When she does poop, take note - if it looks normal, then she may not have to go as often. If it is hard, then she may be constipated. If she pushes and it hurts you may have to resort to the glycerin suppository - not pretty but works like a charm (says my sister)

Prune Juice is a good thing though - good fiber!

It's normal for adults and children to have bowel movements anywhere from three times a day to three times a week. Not going in two days isn't abnormal. I wouldn't give her laxative drops or prune juice or whatever unless the doctor suggests that for you. She just might not need to go yet. You could be starting a dependent habit by giving her the drops.

As the other responders mentioned, I wouldn't get too concerned that she has not gone in 2 days. I imagine she goes pretty regularly which is why you are concerned which is understandable. If you have given her a substantial amount of prune juice already, I would not necessarily give her any more. Also, if she is an apple jucie-aholic like my son, you might be interested in this. We took our son to the ped b/c he was having watery movements. The ped told us that apple juice made from the core can cause diarreha (sp) if given too much. And apple juice made from the skin can cause constipation. WHO KNEW?!!? Of course the bad thing is that the labels do not tell you what the apple juice is made from.
So I would give her tons of water, stay away from dairy of all kinds, and if she'll eat it, give her salad and greens and other green veggies.
Good luck!

particularly than rush her to well being facility - see yet another physician and stress that she has this recurring bowel problem. yet, meanwhile - 3 to 4 days between doos is already no longer adequate, she may have outfitted up a mass of excrement that's no longer likely to come back out in a hurry. that's been 5 days now, that's a sturdy time to grant her an enema (which will both empty her bowels or basically clean away different impacted doodoo).

After 3 days is when you should become concerned. stay away from banana's, cheese and other dairy products, avoid giving your child fast or greasy foods. Try raisons, prune or apple juice and be careful about giving your child laxatives before talking to your pediatrician. My child suffered from chronic constipation and was on Miralax for a couple years now we are slowly weening her off. I am also a nurse so if it becomes severe which you will see your baby crying alot complaining of tummy pain and nothing relieves a harden stomach not even a fleets ask your pediatrician to refer you to a GI doctor. okay? good luck.

If you have already done the above then I would just wait. If she gets too much she is going to have diarrhea. A bm every couple of days is normal. Make sure she drinks plenty of fluids and eats high fiber foods daily.

I had this problem with my oldest child..as long she isn't complaining give it a few more days. Then you can try a glycerin suppository. The bulb kind work great. If the problem continues, contact your doctor.
