He means, "Go now, and I'll tell the police that I never knew you."

unfortunately this answer goes to the crux of why some who say they are Christians are out making others look bad. The center ofthe salvation experience is a relationship thing, is not about a saying the right thing in church. If one does not actually become friends with Jesus then He does not know you. There might even be a short period where He woos a person who asks to be in a relationship with Him and there is energy exchanged and things seen differently but when one is in that relationship then it is not just an intellectual experience. Ones character changes and it is observable even to the casual on looker and it never goes back to what it was b4, because you do know Him and you know you know Him and you are glad you Know Him. In some of what u have written it seems to me you were wooed but never responded whole heartedly. I went through such a period and then remembered that first love and stopped and said OK God I have made a mistake show me and I will do it right and that is when I actually became His friend. Sometimes salvation is not a one step process sometimes the mind gets into it first and later the heart joins in. The measurement of the full experience is in the fruits.

Actually, yes you did meet. According to the original Texts, you were with God before you ever came here, and you knew Him. According to the same Texts, there was an entire earth age before this one, and we all lived here. When you read in Genesis 1, you are not reading of the first creation of the earth; you are reading of the refurbishing of the earth after a great war, to make it habitable for flesh life for this age.
When Jesus said "depart from me, I never knew you", thats what He will be saying to many people when He returns - and He is talking to good, well-meaning Christian folks who actually thought they were "saved", because some Pastor told them they were.
Then when Antichrist came on the scene,
(satan comes first before the true Christ)
these Christians who never bothered to read the Word of God, but who listened to some wacko tv preacher, worshipped Antichrist, believing he was the true Christ.
Antichrist will be coming disguised and pretending to be the true Christ, you see.
When the real Jesus arrives, the mass majority of Christians will be worshipping the fake. Jesus tells them to get away from him, because if they read and knew the Word, they would not have been deceived.
And, remember:
In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD. So, if ya don't know the WORD, you don't know Jesus Christ.
Its just that simple. Bible illiteracy among
church-going christians, is rampant.

In original it said "You never knew me".
We all have to come unto Christ and be more Christ-like in order to be able to live in Heaven with Him again.

If you are not following him sincerely (lip service is not enough), then you cannot expect to know Him or that He will "own" you in the future.

God knows everyone. It is the Biblical "knowing" he is talking about as The Virgin Mary said to the Angel Gabriel when he told her she was to have a son "How will this be, for I do not KNOW man". He means he has had no union with them as his bride (they are not members of his Church), no Holy Communion. This should give everyone some food for thought because it is clear that these people will be shocked that he would say something like this to them. They thought they were in tight with him.

I've always had the impression that the Christ had no love lost on those who "talk the talk" but don't "walk the walk". In the context of Mathew 7, these are the people He wishes to address. I would even go so far as to say that I think he considered such to be the worst kind of sinner. He respected those who were true to themselves, and true to the spirit of his teaching.

Thsi is for anyone today who has the motives of the scribes and pharisees, in the Christian congregation.

Read Rev 2 and 3, about the 7 congregations, each one has approved and disapproved worshipers.

I never "knew" you, of course, is the disapproved, who are in the congregation, worshipping false gods.

Without doubt the most sobering words in Scripture. Many a pretender will be told these words to their everlasting doom. I hope you consider these words and not flippantly assume they are for someone else.
