Yes,My cat Tinker will turn toe water bowl over after every time he drinks so that the next time he has fresh water. The saliva they leave behind leaves bacteria and must make the water have a funny taste so Tink wants it out..If you leave a bowl of water down for a few days and a cat drinks out of it on regular basis, you can see and feel the slim..

I think that you might want to run this by your vet just to make sure your cat is okay. However, one of my two cats used to sit in front of the water bowl, meowing until I changed the water. Thiis used to happen about twice a day, sometimes more. I got a dish with a charcoal filter that recirculates and cleans the water. His demanding behavior has stopped. The other cat was happy with the old dish, and is happy with new one too!

If you cat is drinking a lot of water and hanging around the water bowl a lot, you need to have him/her examined by a vet to rule out diabetes or kidney problems. If those are ruled out them your cat just likes fresh water. Cat's are wonderful companions but they do have quirks. For your peace of mind, have the cat examined soon. Best Wishes.

Cats can be picky. If I was you I would buy one of those fresh water kitty reservoirs. Go to any pet supply store and look at their displays. There are a couple to pick from. They have a container that fills up with water and it is constantly running water like a waterfall. That might make it easier on you and make your kitty very happy. I have one for my picky one and she would have it no other way.

No- it is not normal. Some causes for this is : diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease.
With all these diseases it is best to go to the vet. Sometimes it can be caused by a toxin, and the faster treated, the better prognosis. Diabetes can, if left untreated, cause sudden fatal death. Hyperthryoid can also cause problems when left untreated. Urinary tract infection can also cause it.
Please see your vet.
He/she will do bloodwork and prob urinalysis to rule out or in these diseases

my cats do the same thing. i guess after they drink the water gets saliva in it, which grows bacteria, and probably makes the water taste funny. i'm assuming cats don't like backwash.
