It was a great date, we had a really good time, and I look forward to seeing him again. He told me how great I was, how much he liked me, and couldnt wait to get to know me.... he would call at such and such a time and make plans to take me out next week..........and thats the last I see of him. Why do men do this?? Why cant they just leave it at I had a great time?

I think the translation would be something to the effect of:
"This will be our last date, but I don't have the guts to be honest and tell you that. I will be a coward, tell you I am going to call, then let you figure it out on your own. Then, I will continue to ponder aimlessly about why women think men are dogs."

I read most of the replies to this question first before answering and the curious part was a majority of women gave the same answer that he's a jerk and to you I say it's time to grow up or you might go dateless for a very long time. You don't know whats happen in this persons life something might have happen you don't know until or if he calls remember life happens. Also ladies remember men go through the same thing we think its a great date every things fine but then you use the famous line..." I think we should just be friends". That's a women's classic I'm sure many men have heard that lame line.
At least give this guy a chance and he might have a reason.

mostly men are the submissive in the relationship so they apply some kind of control on the women .... so its all wrongfull messege of being cool .
relationships like chess game your move his move so he moved his bishop take him down with knight ... ask him if U can stop by the office or house that U have some paper work U need help with and dont go
so he can get the messege either do what U say or dont bother opening ur mouth next time

did you sleep with him? if so I can tell you why. I have four twentysomething daughters now, and I explained it to them.
if you sleep with the guy the first day you meet him, don't expect to get a call the next day. It's not happening. You are no longer girlfriend potential at that point. Why? because any guy knows if you were easy for him, you'll probably be easy for the next guy that comes around, and most of us have to go to work everyday.
if you didn't sleep with him, and he's not calling, it could be he didn't have as great of a time as he said he did.maybe he got sidetracked with someone else. could be a lot of things.

do you give up on the first date? just asking... treat yourself with respect and make them want to come back and get to know you... do you seem to be rushing them into making a date after the first one.. I do not know why some men are like this unless they did not get on the first date and that is all they want from you just meaningless sex..

I guess some men do have good intentions of calling but guys call whenever they feel like it. I think what he really meant to say was he would call you soon. Guys never call when they say they will.

Maybe he had a terrible date and didn't want to let you down. A lot of guys dont call cause they want you to believe that they are busier than they really are.

Personally, I think it's because mostly they are pathological liars, insufferable cowards and given the chance will reneg on each and every opportunity to prove their mettle and stand up and be counted. In a nutshell, most have the backbone of a jelly fish .............. I agree with you, wotever happened to all the real men ???

I think he just want to make you feel good after your date.On the other hand maybe he's kinda busy with his job....etc!!!

maybe they forget i used too do the same thing and really just get their number too but dont be a stalker about it and if u call once and they still dont call u back um...... i think its time too move on dont hold ur breathe on that one
