OK, so my partner and I were at the St.Patrick's Day parade and we were not participating in any PDA. We were just wandering around checking out the sites with our puppy and like 3 different religious groups stopped and asked us if they could pray for us. I don't mind the extra prayers, but doesn't ANYONE consider it RUDE to bother a stranger(s) when they're out in public, not knowing if they will agree or disagree with your point of view?

I am SOOOO HAPPY that I wasn't the ONLY one who thought it was completely obnoxious to be broadsided by people. I am a Christian, by geez, I would never do that to someone. Anywho, this happened at the Kansas City St.Patrick's Day parade on Saturday.

Also, I agree that it is a "religous holiday" but in my opinion, any relgious holidays that allows it's demotion through green beer, shamrocks, and parades isn't EXACTLY my idea of a place to be spreading the good news of the Lord....

GWhiz1052: you're retarded. I didn't say I was drinking, I said I was at the parade enjoying the festivites. I don't drink as it is, but next time, try reading the question. And don't you EVER judge someone's religion again, you hypocrite.

I think it is extremely rude. They really do think they are doing you some kind of favor. If someone really feels so compelled to pray for someone, why do they feel the need to ask permission first? I will tell you why: because they have some preconceived notion that if they ask you if they can pray for you, it will make feel bad about yourself. If you feel bad about yourself (in their minds) you might go to their church. Guilt trips, man!

Well...consider the circumstances. You're at St. Patrick's Day parade. St. Patrick's Day is recognized worldwide as a CHRISTIAN holiday. The religious folk assume you are there to celebrate with them, not wander aimlessly. Under any other circumstances, it would be rude but this one seems logical.

Perhaps they just wanted to bless people. They at least asked you if they could pray for you rather than doing it without your permission. I seems to me it's very similar to people who I've encountered that hand out filers or want you to listen to their spiel over some issue. I don't mind them as long as they recognize my right to choose.

This is about on the same level as going to the store, and having to run the gaunlet trying to enter or leave ,with people trying to "sign" you up for something,or getting a "donation"out of you. I inore them,or sometimes I simply do not shop there , and trade elsewhere. It"s my choice ,as it is with you. " Just say No "---Buzz Off.

That IS VERY RUDE. You should have asked why they were specifically praying for you. You don't judge people on the outside! If we could see their insides we'd probably want to pray for them too!

That's how they are. That's life.
I find it more annoying when Verizon calls to hit me up for more money for new services or the newspaper calls and asks if I want home delivery.
Don't they KNOW if I want something I'll find them and ask for it!

Of course it is rude. And the Christians wonder why we have a problem with them.
