Some of the premium canned cat foods have vegetables in them such as Felidae and Newman's. When I feed them to my cats they eat the meat and leave these vegetables on the plate. If those things are in dry food they can't avoid them if they eat it. Some raw meat feeders mix lightly steamed vegetables into their raw mixtures (I don't). There is no research to show that vegetables in this form are bioavailable to the cats or have any special benefit for them. There is not even much research in humans to show that taking vitamin supplements is as beneficial as eating foods which have the vitamins in them.
Wild cats will starve when meat is not available to them before they will eat any vegetable matter. They get all the nutrition they need from the meat - the liver of their prey is rich in Vitamin A, essential amino acids like taurine are present in the lean muscle meat of their prey. Cats make Vitamin C in their bodies from their food and do not need it to be supplemented. Cats sometimes eat grass to purge their digestive systems - it does not offer any nutritional value to their bodies.
Be wary of the "sachets". They are usually very low-quality cat foods using by-product meat and with sugar , salt and articificial flavorings. Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's articled titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food" to learn what to look for on the ingredient label of your cat's food.

I think pet food manufacturers want to appeal to pet owners, and when they see that the food is "gourmet" and contains stuff like carrots, peas or herbs (not kidding - Sheba has food with peas and food with herbs), they subconsciously think "oh, yummy" and buy it for the pets. Cats and dogs can't even properly digest vegetables, so they are obsolete in pet food. Just open a can of food that has no vegetables in it. I must say that my parents used to have a cat that ate vegetables like brussels sprouts, broccoli and peas. Go figure.

Wrong answer. As usual. They also need veggies. That is why it is in the food yo-yo! Do you think they just threw it in there for the hell of it? Nothing else to do? Take care of the cat. That is something you owe the cat the moment you got it is to take care of it. Also try some baby food. Strained carrotts and peas. Take care of the cat. Go to the pet store, unless you know more than they do, and get some "Cat Greens" Cats need greens to but I can tell you dont know that.

Some so-called carnivores are actually omnivores. I don't know about cats, I do know some dogs will eat carrot by the handful.
Might just be your cat hates his vegetables.

Carrots help your eyes to work better, so theyfprobably put carrots in your cat food so your cat won't go blind.
