I have been having a problem with my leg and my current doctor wants me to have a MRI done. I am scared of small enclosed areas, is there another option to have ??

MRI is for the head????? Surely there are other tests for the leg?

A MRI is not an operation - it is close to being x-rayed but without the radiation. There are things called OPEN MRIs. They are not as enclosed as what you might think. Ask your doctor.

Ask your doctor to send you to a center that has the newer "open ended" MRI's. The new models are no more enclosed than a CT Scan.

Because SO many people have a fear [claustophobia] of MRI's, most centers offer the newer machines.

No, this scan is not scary at all. Well, not unless you suffer from claustrophobia. The results can be a matter of worry if the study or findings are not normal ofc. Stay healthy, have a good clean lifestyle and don't allow tests and scans come your way. It's not just the old APPLE, but a millions of other ways to keep that Dr. away.

See if there is a place close to you that does an open MRI. If not, ask your dr for something for your nerves that you can take before you go (xanax or ativan or valium)

Don't worry even if it is little bit hard, it is necessary for the diagnosis. So please do it for the proper treatment. Wish you good health.
